By accessing or using Beeping ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

The Service is provided "as-is" for informational and educational purposes only. Beeping is an open-source project that provides IP address information, network analysis tools, and related utilities without any warranties or guarantees.

The tools and information provided by Beeping are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute:

Data Accuracy

All data provided by the Service, including but not limited to IP geolocation, ASN information, DNS records, and network metrics, is publicly available information aggregated from third-party sources. This data:

  • May be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate
  • Should not be used as the sole basis for critical decisions
  • Is provided without any warranties of accuracy or reliability
  • May change without notice

Acceptable Use Policy

You may use the Service to:

Prohibited Use

You must NOT use the Service to:

Privacy Policy

No Cookies or Tracking

Beeping does not use cookies or any form of persistent tracking. We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or third-party trackers.

Data We Process

When you use the Service, we temporarily process:

  • Your IP address: Required to provide the core service functionality
  • HTTP headers: Used to detect your IP address (X-Forwarded-For, X-Real-IP)
  • Request metadata: Timestamp, request path, and user agent for operational purposes

Data We Do NOT Store

  • Personal identifiable information (PII)
  • IP addresses beyond temporary processing
  • User accounts or authentication data
  • Browsing history or behavior patterns

Temporary Logs

We maintain minimal operational logs for debugging and abuse prevention. These logs may contain IP addresses and are automatically rotated/deleted. Logs are not used for marketing, profiling, or sold to third parties.

Data Security

While we implement reasonable security measures, no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to or processed by the Service.

Data Sources & Attribution

Beeping aggregates data from multiple public sources:

IP Geolocation & ASN Data

This service uses the DB-IP free database for IP geolocation and ASN information. The data is provided under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License .

Attribution: IP geolocation data by DB-IP.

DNS & Network Data

DNS lookup, reverse DNS, and network topology information is obtained from:

  • Public DNS resolvers (e.g., Google Public DNS, Cloudflare DNS)
  • Standard DNS protocol queries to authoritative nameservers
  • WHOIS databases and public registries
  • ICMP protocol responses for network diagnostics

Your use of this service may be subject to additional terms imposed by data providers. Please review:

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BEEPING, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR DATA PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the Service
  • Any inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading data provided by the Service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of the Service
  • Any interruption or cessation of the Service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or malicious code transmitted through the Service
